Fire at commercial building in Mumbai, fire fighter injured

A fire broke out Tuesday on the second floor of a commercial building in suburban Mumbai, an official said.

Station officer from Goregaon fire station, Y P Shelar, received burn injuries on both his hands in the incident and was admitted to Cooper Hospital, a fire brigade official said.

"The injured officer was then shifted to Airoli Burns Centre and is now undergoing treatment there," the official said.

According to the official, the blaze started around 10 am on the second floor of a seven-storey building situated in Madhur Industrial Estate in suburban Andheri.

"The fire was confined to the electric wiring and office furniture of a medical store situated on the second floor of the building," the official said.

 

Eight fire fighting engines, a water tanker and five ambulances were rushed to the spot, he said.

The official further said the fire was doused and cooling process is currently underway.

"No office-goer was injured in the mishap," the official said adding that the cause of the fire was yet to be ascertained.
