Fire at cottage on MP island ahead of Cabinet meet tomorrow

A fire broke out this evening at a cottage located on Hanuwantia island near here, where Madhya Pradesh Government's Cabinet is scheduled to be held on a cruise tomorrow.

"A fire broke out this evening in an air-conditioned cottage and then spread to another one located next to it," nodal officer for Madhya Pradesh government's Cabinet meeting, Amit Tomar, said.

The blaze was immediately brought under control and nobody was injured in the incident, he said adding that the the exact cause of the fire is yet to be known.

The site is located around 30 kms from here.

Tomar added that the incident will not have not any impact on the meeting scheduled tomorrow.
 

Madhya Pradesh Government is holding its Cabinet meet at Hanuwantia island in the back waters of Indira Sagar dam on river Narmada in order to promote water tourism, and will also launch a 'Jal Mahotsav' organised there by the state Tourism Department from tomorrow.

Elaborate security arrangements have been made by the police at the island in view of the Cabinet meeting.

"Prohibitory orders have been imposed in Hanuwantia, which will remain out of bound for common people tomorrow," an official added.

A senior ED official said the fire did not cover any space in the office area and there has been no damage to either office files or other vital documents and computer peripherals of the probe agency.
