There was no casualty in the incident and everyone at the site was safe, a company spokesman said.

About eight fire tenders fought for nearly three hours to control the fire that erupted at the sub-station adjacent to the plant this evening, the spokesman said adding investigation was on to ascertain the cause of the blaze.

"At this stage, it is difficult to specify the cause of the fire and efforts are on to ascertain the circumstances that led to the incident," a senior company official said.

The spokesman said company officials appreciated the support of the local authorities and assistance provided by IFFCO, Paradip Port Trust, Paradeep Phosphates Ltd and Indian Oil corporation in controlling the fire.

A mechanism was being put in place to prevent recurrence of such fire incidents, he said.
