The fire broke out on the fourth floor of the building probably due to short circuit, chief fire brigade officer of Vadodara Municipal Corporation S J Taparia told PTI.

The fire brigade officials evacuated people from the residential complex situated in the Race Course area of the city, they said.

Some people were trapped on the fifth floor of the building and were feeling suffocated due to the smoke, they said adding they were rescued from there with the help of ladders and could come out only after breaking the window-panes.

Fourteen fire fighters were deployed in the service and the fire was controlled within half an hour, they said.
