Fire at IIT Madras campus; none injured

A fire broke out tonight at the IIT Madras campus here but nobody was injured, the management said.

"There has been an incident of fire in a part of the top floor of the IC&SR building of IIT, Madras. Fire tenders were brought in immediately and the fire has been brought under control. No one has been injured," IIT said in a statement.

There was nobody inside the building, it said, adding the reason for the fire would be investigated.

Meanwhile police also said that the cause of the fire was yet to be ascertained.

About five tenders were pressed into service to douse the flames.
