Fire at Jabalpur ordnance factory doused after three hours

A fire broke out at Ordnance Factory, Khamaria, in Jabalpur district of Madhya Pradesh this evening, setting off a series of explosions.

District Collector Mahesh Choudhary said that 25 fire tenders were pressed into service, and the blaze was put out by 9.30 pm, three hours after it started.

The explosions too have stopped, the Collector said.

The fire started at around 6.20 pm, when the factory workers had left, hence there were no casualties, said Choudhary, who visited the spot.

Cause of the fire was yet to be ascertained, he said.
