Fire at JSPL

A fire broke out at the

Jindal Steel and Power Ltd's (JSPL) Angul unit today.

According to sources, the fire broke out at the cooling tower of the steel melting shop (SMS) of the plant around 10 am. There were no casualties.

The fire was controlled by the in-house mechanism of the company, an official of the JSPL said.

JSPL's two fire tenders were pressed into service to douse the flames.

The exact cause of the fire could not be ascertained.

The company was yet to ascertain the amount of loss due to the incident.

"The company has not reported the matter with the police," Angul SP Kavita Jalan said.
