A massive fire broke out at
Kadamtala Market of Howrah in which nearly 50 shops were gutted.
Ten fire tenders reached the spot and the fire, which was first noticed at 5.40 AM, was brought under control", a Fire department official said.
Officials said a detailed report was yet to establish the cause of fire and the exact number of shops gutted.
Eyewitnesses said some 100 shops are likely to have been gutted.
