A fire broke out in a footwear manufacturing unit located in Narela Industrial Area in outer Delhi today but there was no report of any casualty.
The fire broke out at around 4.50 AM. It destroyed stocks of footwear, raw material and machines in the factory causing damage running into several lakhs, police said.
The fire started at the top floor of the three-storeyed factory building. Short circuit was believed to be the reason behind the fire although the exact cause of it will be known after investigation, police said.

The fire fighters struggled for hours and finally doused the flames around 9.20 am, said a Fire Service official.
Plumes of dense smoke billowed out of the factory as the raw material burnt in the fire. 32 fire tenders were rushed to douse the fire in the industrial area as it was feared that it will spread to nearby manufacturing units.
The workers of the footwear factory as well as those in nearby factories were evacuated to prevent any casualty. After bringing the fire under control, fire fighters launched cooling operation which continued till the afternoon.
