Fire breaks out in a flat after LPG explosion

A senior citizen was injured in a fire that broke out after a LPG cylinder exploded in a flat in suburban Andheri this afternoon, police and fire brigade officials said.

Gopinath Das (80) suffered 10 per cent injuries in the fire that broke out at 2.46 PM, said officials.

The flat is located on the sixth floor of Ambewadi society, officials said.

Four fire engines, three fire jetties and an ambulance were rushed to the spot to douse the flames.

The building has been immediately evacuated.

Das has been admitted to a civic run hospital, the official added.

The flames were doused off after two-hours of fire fighting, they said.
 

The exact reason behind the fire is yet to be ascertained, said the official.
