Fire breaks out in factory in Kota

A huge fire broke out at a factory in the Chambal Industrial Area here this morning, destroying property and goods worth Rs 25 lakh, an official said.

There were no casualties in the incident at the Tirupati Foods' factory and eight fire tenders were deployed to douse the blaze, Kota Municipal Corporation (KMC), Fire Officer, Amjad Khan said.

Reportedly, the fire broke out around 5:45 am. The reason behind the fire is yet to be ascertained, he said, adding that the factory made popcorns, namkeen and other Indian snacks.

Machinery, raw materials and other items were gutted in the fire, he said, adding that according to the factory's owner Rs 20 to 25 lakh of goods and property were destroyed in the incident.
 

There were no workers present in the factory when the fire broke out, he said.
