The office of Information and Public Relation department of the state government today was partially gutted by a fire caused by a short circuit, officials said.
The incident took place at around 6 am in one of the rooms of the building and major damage was averted due to arrival of fire service personnel on time, department Director H M Shangpliang told PTI.
The chowkidar informed the police on time and fire fighting crew doused the fire without causing a major damage, he said.
According to the official, the cause of fire was detected to be of a live wire short circuit.
