A major fire broke out in sales tax office here in Lakhanpur area, reducing most of the records to ashes, a fire service official today said.
The fire broke out at the third floor of the office last night, however, no one was injured, Chief Fire Officer S K Singh Kushwaha said.
Eight fire tenders were pressed into service which took over four hours to douse the flame, he said, adding "the reason behind the fire may be short circuit but we are probing.
