Though no casualty or injury was reported, properties worth lakhs of rupees were damaged in the fire, police said.
The fire broke out in a Liberty shoes showroom this afternoon apparently after a short circuit and soon engulfed the adjacent shops in the market.
Around six fire tenders were pressed into service to douse the flames. It took around one hour to control the blaze.
The shoes showroom was gutted in the fire while the other shops were partially damaged.
