A major fire broke out in a godown of transport company in Mahipalpur area in South Delhi, but no one was injured, police and fire department officials said.

According to the fire department, they recieved information about the fire at the transport godown in Mahipalpur area at around 3:30 pm.

"More than 30 fire tenders were rushed to the spot to douse the fire. It took the fire officials around four hours to completely douse the blaze. The situation was brought under control by around 8 pm but the cooling work was still on," said a fire official.

The workman at godown had immediately informed the fire department but the firemen could not reach the spot on time due to massive traffic jam.

The official said that the blaze was suspected to have been caused by short circuit.

According to police, inflammable materials including linen was stored in the building which added to the blaze.

No casualties were, however, reported in the incident as there were only a few employees in the godown at the time of the incident, police said.
