A major fire severely damaged two godowns of the Reliance Jute Mill at Bhatpara in North 24 Parganas district of West Bengal, fire brigade officials said today.
The fire broke out at one godown last night at around 11.20 PM and spread to another where a huge quantity of jute products were stacked.
It took about 12 hours for 17 fire tenders to douse the flames, which were finally put out at 8.15 AM this morning, they said adding, nobody was injured, but a portion of one godown has collapsed.
Jute products worth Rs 30 crore were destroyed in the fire, Jute Mill Manager (Security) Kaushal Kumar Singh said.
