A major fire today broke out in forest area of Aravalli mountain here but no human casualty.
The fire department control room received a complaint about the fire at 11 AM.
More than 20 fire tenders and 10 teams of fire fighters were rushed to the spot to douse the flames.
It took them more than six hours to control the flames which spread in more than 10 acres of forest area falling under Raisina zone.
The forest area, known for "eco-fragility" and a safe den of a number of wild animals including leopards and hyena, is spread in the epicenter of Faridabad, Rajasthan and Gurgaon outskirts.
Assistant fire officer Narendar Yadav said it could have turned into a major disaster if the fire had spread in dense parts of the forest.
"We faced difficulties in dousing the flames as fire tenders were unable to reach some spots due to uneven surface in the hilly area," he said.
The fire fighters have brought the fire under control by thorough cleaning of the affected area, Yadav added.
