Fire in Bapu Bhawan in Lucknow; probe ordered

A fire broke out today at Bapu Bhawan which houses the offices of senior government officers, following which an inquiry has been ordered by the Uttar Pradesh government

Fire broke out in B block on the fifth floor of Bapu Bhawan this morning around 9 am causing damage in Section 1 and 2 of Tax Registration Department, Secretary Secretariat Administration Prabhat Mittal said.

Fire tenders were immediately called, which doused the fire after an hour.

On the directives of Chief Secretary Alok Ranjan, a committee of officers has been constituted to probe into the incident, Mittal said.

The committee include Special Secretary secretariat administration Yaad Ali, Superintendent Engineer of PWD, Chief Fire Officer and Mukhya Vyavastha Adhikari (technical) of Estate Department.
 

The committee would submit its report on cause of the fire and give recommendations to check such incidents in the future to Secretary Secretariat Administration within a week.
