Fire in empty coach at New Azadpur station; no injury

An empty coach of a train caught fire at New Azadpur station here today which was subsequently brought under control and there was no report of any injury.

An idle general coach of an empty train at New Azadpur station caught fire around 5 pm and the fire was brought under control within 45 minutes with the help of fire brigade and the fire-fighting service available at the station, according to the spokesperson of Northern Railway.

The partially burnt coach was replaced by another coach.

He said the coach was partially burnt and cause of the fire was yet to be ascertained and it would be known only after the inquiry report.
 

There are unauthorised slum clusters along the track near the station and the Railways is trying clear the encroachment as a safety measure.

Divisional Railway Manager of Delhi Division along with other senior officials rushed to the spot to oversee the fire-fighting measures.
