The blaze was reported from the ground floor rooms of the ministry in North Block at around 5:45 AM and six fire tenders were rushed to the spot which doused the fire.
No one was injured in the incident but some office records, furnitures, computer and other equipment were damaged in the incident.
Cause of the fire is suspected to be short circuit in an air conditioner.
