A major fire broke out today at a

godown in Loha Bazar here, gutting half a dozen shops and destroying material worth lakhs of rupees, police said.

However, there were no report of any casualty.

Fire probably started due short circuit at a godown of a paint and hardware shop and it quickly engulfed half a dozen adjoining shops, police said here.

Fire tenders were called in from various places including Bhiwani, Barwala and Jind to put out the blaze. It took fire fighters five hours to control the blaze, they said, adding building of charitable Nanu Ram dispensary and a shop collapsed due to fire.
