A major fire broke out in a
medicine godown in Mahestala area of South 24 Parganas district today, destroying medicines worth lakhs of rupees.
Fire brigade sources said the blaze was detected at around 12 noon and 17 fire tenders were trying to bring the fire under control.
Short circuit was suspected to be the cause of the fire, fire brigade sources said adding no injury or casualty was reported.
