The fire that broke out in a sanctuary near popular Lonar crater lake here continued for the fourth day today even as forest officials claimed that it was being brought under control.
The fire that was noticed around noon on May 9 has reduced to ashes the medicinal plant there and may have caused danger to the wild animals and birds there, sources said.
Tahsildar Vishwanath Ghuge and President of Lonar Municipal Council Baliram Mapari visited the spot alongwith police officials to oversee the efforts to extinguish fire.
The reason behind the raging fire was not known and the people here have demanded an official enquiry.
