Fire partially destroys school building

A fire today completely gutted three rooms of the administrative block of a school in West Siang district of Arunachal Pradesh destroying many important documents.

According to officials, the fire which broke out in the wee hours today, gutted three rooms of the administrative block of Marjum Memorial School at Yeggo in the district.

Original certificates, registration cards and CBSE records from 2010 were reported to be completely destroyed in the blaze.

Internal exam papers of class IX and X for the year 2016-17, all electronic equipment and furniture in the three rooms were also badly damaged in the fire, school authorities said.
 

District Disaster Management Officer Nima Dorjee rushed to the spot to take stock of the situation.

The cause of the fire was yet to be ascertained, the officials added.
