Firefox eyes 40 pc jump in sale

Premium bicycle maker Firefox Bikes today said it is eyeing 40 per cent jump in sale of its bicycles to 70,000 by year end on the back of rising demand of bicycles across the country.

"The company sold over 50,000 bikes last year. As Indians are increasingly taking to the greener transport, we aim at selling 70,000 bikes by 2014 year end," Firefox Bikes MD Shiv Inder Singh said.

Growing awareness among people about health benefits of cycling along with formation of cycling clubs in major cities would also lead to growth in sales, said company's GM, Ajit Gandhi.

The company has also plans to expand its presence by opening 25-20 outlets this year, mainly focusing on tier-II cities.
 

"We will open 25-30 outlets this year and our focus will be on opening these outlets in tier-II cities," Gandhi said, adding that the expansion would also fuel sales growth.

With 150 exclusive retail outlets, Firefox Bikes has 60 models of bikes that include road bikes, mountain bikes, BMX Bikes, folding bikes, off-road bikes, city bikes for both men and women.

The company is also an exclusive distributor of US-based brand Trek whose bicycles prices start from Rs 30,000.

"We have 3-4 bicycle models of Trek which have price of more than Rs 1 lakh and we are able to sell 200-250 units a year. Maximum sale of these bikes are in metro cities," he said.

The company has also rolled out new model Trek's New Domane with IsoSpeed which is priced at Rs 1.62 lakh. Comes with ultra light carbon frame, Trek's Domane IsoSpeed Decoupler is helpful in softening the blow of rough roads.
