Gunshots were allegedly fired outside the residence of Samajwadi Party's Women's Wing President Geeta Singh here in a case of suspected rivalry ahead of the upcoming block Pramukh elections, police said today.

About 10 to 12 persons fired shots outside Geeta Singh's house last night, when she was not present at home, they said.

Based on her complaint, a case against 10 persons, including one Vinod Yadav, has been registered under various sections of IPC, including 307 (attempt to murder), police said.

The incident is allegedly linked to the upcoming block Pramukh elections for which Yadav is contesting against Singh's daughter-in-law.

No arrest has been made so far and further investigation is on, police added.

Singh has alleged suspended SP MLA from Maholi Anoop Gupta instigated the firing. Gupta has denied his involvement.
