Firm conditions prevail in grains market

Firm conditions developed at the wholesale grains market today as wheat and a few other bold grain traded up to Rs 30 per quintal higher on the increased offtake.

Traders said reduced offtake by flour mills helped wheat prices to trade higher.

Increased demand from consuming industries led to the rise in other bold grain prices, they said.

In the national capital, wheat dara (for mills) inched up by Rs 5 to Rs 1,615-1,620 per quintal. Atta chakki delivery followed suit and edged up by the same margin to Rs 1,620-1,625 per 90 kg.

Other bold grains like, maize and barley also moved up by Rs 20 and Rs 30 to Rs 1,220-1,225 and Rs 1,610-1,615 per quintal, respectively.
