Government will launch tomorrow a scheme under which firms can file a single online common return on ShramSuvidha portal to comply with eight central labour laws, a move which would improve ease of doing business and reduce transaction costs.
"The facility for filing Single Online Common Return under 8 Central Labour Acts/Rules on the ShramSuvidha Portal will be launched tomorrow. This service will reduce the transaction costs of business and make it easy and convenient to meet their obligations," a Labour Ministry press release said.
Labour Ministry has developed a unified web-portal 'ShramSuvidha Portal', catering to four major Organisations under it -- Office of Chief Labour Commissioner (Central), Directorate General of Mines Safety, Employees' Provident Fund Organization and Employees' State Insurance Corporation.

The ShramSuvidhaWeb-Portal was earlier launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on October 16, 2014. The facility for allotment of Labour Identification Number (LIN) and the transparent inspection scheme were activated on the Web Portal since then.
Now the portal will not only facilitates firms to register online for LIN but also allow them to file self-certified and simplified single online return.
At present, they are filing separate returns for complying with different labour laws.
Under the new transparent labour inspection scheme the inspections are done using computerized system based on risk based criteria. It mandates labour inspector to uploade the inspection reports within 72 hours.
One of the objectives of the portal is timely redressal of grievances.
