Delhi's Revenue Minister Arvinder Singh today flagged off the first batch of pilgrims from Delhi for this year's Kailash Mansarovar Yatra.
The first batch consisted of 53 pilgrims coming from different parts of the country including Maharastra, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Kerala, New Delhi and Uttar Pradesh.
Speaking on the occasion, Singh said under the able leadership and guidance of Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit, Delhi Government has decided to grant an allowance of Rs 30,000 each to every Kailash Mansarovar pilgrim who hails from Delhi.
Earlier, the allowance was Rs 25,000. Other than this, a gift kit worth Rs 10,000 is also given to every pilgrim. The kit includes a raincoat, backpack, flashlight, track-suits, worship materials and a mat.
