The recently-launched Indian Boxing Council (IBC) will conduct its first contact clinic for south zone at the Sri Guru College of Technology on the outskirts of the city on August 1.
The clinics were conducted across India to teach the promoters, trainers and boxers nuances of professional boxing and the various processes involved, Brig (retd) P K Muralidharan Raja, President, IBC, said in a release today.
Stating that IBC was launched on July 8 to promote and govern the sport of professional boxing in India, Raja, who was secretary general of Indian Amateur Boxing Federation from 2004 to 2012, claimed that IBC had given Beijing Olympics bronze medallist Vijender Singh its first Pro Boxing license on July 14 at Delhi.

The council had organised FCC for north zone in two centres - Bhiwani on July 13 and Patiala on July 15, which had attracted large number of boxers, trainers, promoters and the south zone FCC will be held in Coimbatore, he said.
He requested all interested promoters, trainers and boxers from south zone, who are keen to be part of India's professional boxing fraternity to avail the opportunity.
FCC for Pro Boxing (south zone) will be conducted at Hyderabad and Visakhapatnam soon, Raja said.
