A doppler radar, which was necessitated after the last year's natural calamity in Uttarakhand, will be put up in Tehri district to strengthen advance weather information gathering mechanism in the state.
The radar, first in the state, will be put up near the high-altitude Surkanda Devi temple in the district with the help of the MeT department.
A decision in this regard was taken by the high powered committee constituted to review progress of the World Bank aided State Disaster Recovery project, Additional Chief Secretary Rakesh Sharma said.
The Doppler radar will be installed west of the temple over a treeless area of 750 square metres to be transferred by the forest department to the Disaster Management Department, Sharma said.
