With an aim to digitise the judiciary, Chief Justice of the Jammu and Kashmir High Court Justice Badar Durrez today inaugurated the first e-court here.
The first paperless e-court Srinagar (wing) in the state will start functioning from next week and will use digitised case records, thereby bringing down paper and space required to maintain the records, an official spokesman said here.
The chief justice said it will help litigants as well as advocates to know the status of different cases speedily.

The case records and notings would be synchronised in the available database.
"It is the memorable and historic day in the state when the whole world is digitised we are not now behind digital revolution," Justice Durrez said.
"Digitisation of records will help to keep our records up to date as well as the records will not vanish because of natural disasters like we witnessed earlier in 2014 floods," he said.
