The first fleet of buses under the Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM) will hit the road in Himachal Pradesh on December 30, state Transport Minister G S Bali said here today.

"In the first phase, these buses will run on smaller routes and charge fixed fare. The first batch of buses will run on Nagrota, Pamlampur, Kangra, Dharamsala, Pathankot and Chintpurni routes," the minister said.

Bali said Himachal Road Transport Corporation (HRTC) has received 80 of the 800 buses sanctioned under JNNURM so far. These will start playing in other areas of the state soon.

Of these, the bigger buses are for city transport and plain areas, while for other parts of the state there are mini buses.

Bali will also inaugurate a bus depot at Nagrota Bagwan in Kangra district on December 30. Nagrota is the Assembly constituency of the minister.
