The first multiplex at a bus stand in Himachal Pradesh was inaugurated here today, with the state government planning to construct five more such complexes to help improve the revenue generation of Himachal Road Transport Corporation.
Inaugurating the multiplex at newly constructed ISBT at Shimla, Transport minister G S Bali said that the Dharamsala multiplex was caught up in legal wrangles, delaying its launch, but the other five bus stand with multiplex would be build soon.
The new multiplex bus stands have been planned for Kullu, Manali, Dhalli, Una and Hamirpur at an estimated cost of Rs 500 crore on BOOT (Build, Operate, Own and Transer) basis or BOT (Build Operate and Transfer) basis and all the projects are expected to be commissioned in next two years, Bali said.
He said parking facility would be provided for the vehicles at all the multiplexes and people would be saved from chronic problem of traffic congestion and road jams, he added.
