First phase of Jaipur Metro to be completed by next year

"55 per cent of work under the first phase of Jaipur Metro has been completed and the remaining work is likely to be finished by June 2013," an official release said.

The project is to be completed in two phases.

"Under the first phase- IA, Metro train would run between Mansarovar and Chandpole covering a distance of 9.718 kms.

Similarly, under the first phase-IB, it is proposed that Metro train would be run from Chandpole to Bari Chaupar within the distance of 2.349 kms," it said.

The total expenditure incurred on this project is about 3,149 crores, it said, adding that there will be three underground and 8 elevated stations in the first phase.

 

In the second phase, the Metro would run from Sitapura to Ambabari on which Rs 6,581 crore would be spent.

"Its distance would be a little over 23.099 kms," it said.

There would be 5 underground and 15 elevated stations, the release added.
