An eye bank, said to be the first in the government sector in the southern states, was today inaugurated at the state-run Sarojini Devi Eye Hospital here.
Telangana Health Minister C Laxma Reddy declared open the eye bank.
He launched an ambulance for eye collection and also inaugurated an air-conditioned post-operative ward and dedicated equipment worth Rs one crore at the hospital, a state government release said.
It quoted Reddy as saying that it was a matter of pride that the first eye bank in government medical sector in south India had been established at the Sarojini hospital.
