"Prof Basu, who assumed the office of Dean and Head of the Department of Education today, is the first ever woman dean of the faculty of education ever since the department was established in the University of Kashmir," the spokesman said.
He said prior to her appointment as Professor in the department of education, she was working as Director State Resource Centre at University of Kashmir.
