Fisherman killed by tiger in Sundarbans

A fisherman was killed in a tiger attack when he was catching crab in the mangrove forests of Sundarbans in South 24-Parganas district, police said today.

Satish Mondal (36) died yesterday when he was mauled by a tiger in a creek at Pirkhali jungle.

Mondal and two others from Gosaba delta went to catch crab after getting permit from the forest department.

Mondal's friends fought with the tiger with bamboo sticks to retrieve the body and returned home last night.
