A meeting of Various Fishermen's associaitons here today thanked the Centre and Tamil Nadu governments for getting the release of 94 fishermen arrested by the Sri Lankan navy.
However, they resolved to block the road traffic on the Pamban bridge, linking the main land with this island, on August 23, to press for the release of their boats.
T.Sesuraja, a fishermen association leader, told newsmen that they were already continuing their indefenite strike pressing for the release of their boats and were not putting out to sea since July 24.
The Fishermen demanded that they should be allowed to fish in their traditional waters without any problem while urging the officials to take action against country boats using banned fish nets, which harmed the Marine wealth and ecology.
