Three days after the fishermen
were advised against putting out to sea due to high velocity wind and rough sea condition, fishing resumed today in the sea off Rameswaram coast.
Meanwhile a meeting of the fishermen here, before venturing into the sea, decided to resort to indefenite strike from July one demanding the release of 14 fishermen who were taken into custody bythe Lankan Navy, Alphonse, Fishermen's Association president said.
Alphonse said the Centre should give compensation for 19 boats, seized by the Sri Lankan navalmen last year, as the boats had become useless now. He also demanded the release of four fishing boats from Sri Lanka, which were in good condition as of now.
