Five persons, including the son of a former Delhi Police official, who allegedly shot at a 12-year-old girl at east Delhi's Krishna Nagar area and had been evading arrest for around past two months, have been arrested, police said today.

The accused, identified as Yogesh, Gulzar Khan, Shokinder Singh, Krishan Kumar and Rajesh, all booked for attempt to murder, have been arrested by the Special Task Force of the district, said DCP (East) BS Gurjar.

Yogesh, whose father was a Delhi Police sub-inspector, is a property dealer who is also allegedly involved in a small-time extortion business in the area, said police.

Around two months ago, Yogesh and Shokinder went to a local eatery where they entered into a heated argument with the eatery owner, following which a large crowd gathered around.

Soon, the associates of the duo joined.

To scare away the crowd, the group opened fire and one of the bullets hit a 12-year-old girl, who later had to undergo a kidney transplant and is still recovering, said police.

While four accused were arrested immediately after the incident, the others had fled.

Later, the Special Task Force had to be roped in which tracked down the accused and arrested them yesterday, police added.
