Police today claimed to have solved the mystery behind a truck driver's murder after arresting five persons, including a roadside eatery owner.

The body of the driver identified as Mahipal was found on January 1 near Aayna village in the district and his vehicle was found abandoned near Hussain Tekri on Jaora bypass road, Ratlam Superintendent of Police said.

Mahipal hailed from the Jaamkheria village in Uttar Pradesh. Since his truck was fitted with a Global Positioning System (GPS), it was traced to Hussain Tekri.

Later, a roadside eatery owner near Umatpalia village Aizaz Khan was taken into custody.

Khan said that he and his four accomplices Shahrukh, Imran, Saddam and Bilal killed the driver to loot his truck, but when they found only medicines in it, they dumped it near Hussain Tekri, the SP said.

The local police cyber cell played a vital role in solving the murder case, he said.

The SP has announced an award of Rs 15,000 for the police team which cracked the murder case.
