Five persons were arrested while on their way to collect levy from a contractor engaged in construction of a dam in adjoining Seraikela-Kharswan district, police officer said today.
Based on a tip-off that a group of miscreants were on their way to collect levy, a special police team headed by Sub-divisional Police Officer (Seraikela-Kharswan), K V Raman was put on alert.
The team has been constituted by the Superintendent of Police Indrajeet Mahatha.

The team intercepted three persons in Kharswan last night and the subsequent interrogation led police to arrest two more from Lakhandih under Kharswan police station, Mahatha said.
Police has recovered a country-made pistol and four live cartridges while confiscating two motorcycles the gang was travelling in besides, five mobile phones, he said.
A case in this regard was registered under Kharswan police station.
