Five arrested with 70 quintals of cow meat

Five persons have been arrested for carrying 70 quintals of cow meat in a vehicle in Rajakarampur near Pahara village, police said today.

According to police, a police team was checking vehicles yesterday when they were informed about a vehicle carrying cow meat. When police tried to step the vehicle the persons sitting inside it fired at the cops but the policemen retaliated and forced the vehicle to stop.

Two country-made pistols, along with cartridgeswere seized from the possession of five persons, police said.

The accused have been identified as Kaleem, Sonu, Durgesh, Vijaysingh and Radheshyam who confessed that they were bringing cow meat from Bhargain to Delhi for sale.
 

A case has been registered against the accused, police said, adding the vehicle has been seized.
