The police today claimed to have foiled a bomb attack in Kandaha, 18km from here, after they arrested five people, including a village head, here and seized raw materials and equipment used for making explosives from them.
Acting on a tip-off, the police raided a godown located on the outskirts of Saharsa town and found a vehicle loaded with bomb-making tools and materials, Sadar Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Prabhakar Tiwari said.
During interrogation, the arrested men had revealed that they had plans to attack their rivals in Kandaha village, a police source said.
"One of them has been identified as Rahul Raj, the village head of Pastwar panchayat in the district, Another person Nitish Kumar, a resident of Madhubani district, was an expert in bomb-making," the SDPO said, adding that two of them were in inebriated condition at the time of their arrest, he said.
