Five men were today arrested for possessing illegal arms near Sriganganagar district by BSF and police officials.
Following a tip off, a joint team of BSF and local police apprehended the men and recovered arms from their possession, a BSF spokesperson said.
The accused were identified as -- Subhas (24) resident of 65 NP village, Subhash (33) resident of Meghwalo Ki Dhani, Sulendra Kumar (24), Dulichand (21) and Harvinder Singh (22), he said.
One country-made revolver, two pistols and four live cartridges were a seized from the men, the spokesman said.
The accused have been handed over to the local police for further interrogation and investigation.
