Five booked for BDC murder in UP

Five persons have been booked, including two district Panchayat members, in connection with the murder of a newly elected Block Development Committee (BDC) member at Babri village in Shamli district, police said today.

A case of murder and under the prevention of atrocities (SC/ST) Act has been registered yesterday on the complaint by the father of the deceased Dhaniram, SP Vijay Bhushan said.

According to the complaint, the deceased Sonu (26) was kidnapped and murdered after he refuse to vote for the wife of one of the accused Sher Singh Rana, candidate for Block Pramukh polls to be held on Feburary 7.
 

The body of victim was found in fields yesterday , following which locals held a protest and blocked roads.

Security has been tightened in the village.
