Five booked for raping girl after court's intervention

An FIR has been filed against five youths, following a court's intervention, for allegedly raping a girl at Luhari Gavi village in Raja Ka Rampur area, police said today.

Police had initially refused to lodge the victim's complaint, following which she moved a local court which directed the concerned police station to register the FIR.

A complaint was registered yesterday against five persons, including key accused Samar, SHO Devendra Shanker Pandey said.

The incident occurred on July 29 when the girl had gone to the fields to answer the nature's call and she was allegedly gangraped by Samar and four others, police said.
 

The victim also alleged that the accused fired upon her brother when she approached the police to lodge a complaint, the SHO added.

The matter is being investigated but no arrests have been made so for, Pandey said.

In another incident, a woman was allegedly harassed by a youth of her village, police said.

According to the FIR, the incident took place on August 18 when the girl was standing at a bus stand at Keltha village under Aliganj police station, they said.

In a third incident, police yesterday booked four persons for harassing a woman in Aliganj town in Kotwali Aliganj.
