Five men tasked with packaging mobile phones for delivery to an online e-tailer major were today booked for allegedly stealing high-end handsets belonging to different brands over the last three months, police said.
The men were working at godowns in Bhiwandi where the handsets sourced from various mobile phone manufacturers are packed and sent to the online retailer firm which in turn delivers them to public, a Narpoli police station official said tonight.
The five accused allegedly stole 267 high-end mobile phones valued at Rs 24.43 lakh during October 2017 to January 2018, he said.

The handsets belonged to different brands like Xiamoi Redmi, MotoG, Imax etc, police said.
The five persons have been booked under section 406 (punishment for criminal breach of trust) of the IPC on a complaint filed by the online delivery firm, police said, adding that nobody is arrested so far.
Recently, a 26-year-old software engineer from Navi Mumbai claimed to have received a detergent bar instead of an iPhone-8 which he had ordered from an online portal and made full payment.
On his complaint, a case of cheating was registered against the e-tailer concerned.
