Five children, including three girls drowned in tanks at Radhapuram in the district and and Perundhalur in Ramanathapuram district today, police said.
Madhavan (12) and his brother Koteeswaran (10) and their relative Inba (10) were taking bath in the Kozhiangulam when they accidentally strayed into the deep waters without knowing swimming.
All the three drowned. Fire service personnel retrieved the bodies.
In Ramanathapuram Rubini (12)and her sister Sandhya(6) drowned in a Tank at Perundhalur.
Police said that the tank had been deepened recently to hold more water and it was full due to recent rains.
